FirstPROOF SoftProofing System

Designed and developed by one of the Harlequin RIP's original lead developers, FirstPROOF is Hamillroad's popular post-RIP soft-proofing system that allows users of the Harlequin or TIFF based RIPs to view and approve output from their RIP prior to imaging. See Figure 1.

With its high performance viewing capabilities, advanced tools and large feature set, FirstPROOF allows the user to carefully check output for content, correct orientation, positive/negative, picture quality, vignette/blend smoothness,automated or manual traps, black traps, fonts, colors and colorant sets, screens and moire, ink limits, calibration and much more.

This makes FirstPROOF a highly productive tool that will consistently save production time and money. Different versions of FirstPROOF address specific production requirements. These include FirstPROOF PGB for Harlequin RIP Page Buffer Files , FirstPROOF TIFF, and FirstPROOF Plus for both PGB and TIFF files and includes a long list of extra tools.

Release 4.0 Key Features

Mac OS X: Enhancement. Universal Binary Support: This release is optimized to work with Fusion RIPs 7.x (and other prepress applications) for Mac OS X on the Mac Intel (and PowerPC) platform.
FirstPROOF Standard has been extended with a number of Option Packs: a) Advanced Tools Pack, b) Page Modification Pack and c) Printing & Export Pack.
The User Interface has been improved, using more modern tab panels for both the Configure FirstPROOF and Configure [RIP/TIFF] Input dialogs.
FirstPROOF now automatically detects (uses heuristics to determine) if a job is positive or negative and enables the Negative Tool as appropriate.
