The Harlequin RIP was designed from the beginning to have a plug-in architecture, allowing OEMs to create programs that directly interact with the core input and output capabilities of the RIP. Your existing Harlequin RIP most likely uses some sort of output plugin to drive an imagesetter or platesetter.

1.RIP (and trap if desired) individual pages prior to imposition.
2.Proof exactly what will print on the press, not a separately interpreted version
3.Correct and re-RIP individual pages, rather than entire flats
4.Impose pre-RIPped pages, rather than PostScript or PDF pages that need to be RIPped as a massive imposition flat.
5.Output fully-RIPped pages that are “stitched” together at the RIP, instead of RIPping a gigantic PDF or PostScript flat that can become a bottleneck for the output device.
