Changing the default program for opening and editing files
Something that many of us in prepress might want to do is change the default program for opening and/or editing files. For example, you might want to open all PDF files in Acrobat Pro, instead of Reader. Or you might want to open all TIFF files in PhotoShop instead of Preview.
To make these default program changes, do the following.
1. Right click a file with the extension that you want to change the association to.
2. Click “Get Info” in the pop-up menu.
3. In the Info Window that comes up goto “Open With” and Expand it by clicking the right facing arrow. If the arrow is facing down, then this section is already expanded.
4. Choose the Application you want to use as the default from the drop down menu in this section. Then click “Change All”.
Now you have a new default app to open all those special files with.
