FTIFF Workflow Accelerator

Fusion Accelerator For 1-bit TIFF Output

Introduction

The FTIFF plug-in is a high-speed TIFF creation device plug-in for the Global Graphics Harlequin RIP. FTIFF does not directly drive any output device, but rather creates industry standard TIFF files. These TIFF files can be continuous tone RGB or CMYK, or they can be 1-bit (separations) for output to film or plated devices.

The FTIFF plugin is an improved high-speed plug-in with built-in file routing and naming logic. It is approximately 20% faster than the standard Harlequin RIP TIFF plug-in on single processor systems, and 50% faster on two processor systems.

FTIFF also allows for automation of file routing, file conversion, and task automation through advanced file name filtering and routing logic, as well as post-process scripting.

Fusion Systems unique CCITT compression algorithms and file processing optimization are produce superior TIFF generation performance. FTIFF is multi-thread enabled to take full advantage of multi-processor CPUs.

The accelerate the of TIFF file creation combined with a wide range of task automation, using FTIFF's extended post-process scripting features simplifies critical plates production.

Key Attributes

• Data Formats - Enables fast generation of a wide range of TIFF formats

• Compression - Provides a choice of common industry compression formats

• Advanced File Naming - Both Conventional & Template Based file naming

• Throughput - Fast Multi-threaded enabled algorithms on multi-core CPUs

• Automation - Advanced file and job post-process scripting capabilitiess

Features & Benefits

Data Formats

FTIFF also supports tiled, single-file CMYK + Spot color and single-file frame interleaved TIFF, in addition to formats supported by the standard Harlequin RIP TIFF plug-in.

Compression Formats

As well as the formats supported by the standard TIFF plug-in, FTIFF supports

both CCITT Huffman, CCITT Group 4, LZW and None. At the heart of FTIFF are a wide range of unique and highly optimized high performance algorithms for implementing the standard compression methods required by high-end workflow.

These along with the multi-threading capabilities make FTIFF the output plug-in of choice for the most demanding users and applications.

Extended File Naming Options

Conventional and Advanced Template Based Naming

In addition to standard File Name output to pre-defined output directories, FTIFF also provides unique options for dynamic output directory generation based on standardized file naming conventions.

Additionally, the FTIFF allows for interpretation and the flexible use of a extended template-based naming variables to automatically direct the output location of files to a range of pre-established output directories. The benefit is automated file routing for any number of workflow requirements.

Superior Throughput Speed

Taking advantage of the latest multi-core CPUs, FTIFF is multi-threaded so as to provide maximum performance on today's hardware. This offers the highest performance possible, for last minute production of time critical jobs.

Workflow Automation - Advanced File and Job Scripting

In addition to per file (separation) post-processing, FTIFF also provides (end of) entire job postprocessing for a wide range of prepress task automation. For example, with FTIFF one can easily set up a workflow that automatically moves all of the 1-bit TIFF separations of a entire job to an FTP directory to send the separations to a remote printing facility.

These power features, combined with FTIFFs many other capabilities, allows for easy customization to perform key prepress tasks automatically.
